Gane explains that thieves have caught on to the AirTag trick and will often discard them after opening the luggage. However, if you hide a working AirTag inside the interior lining of your bag and place the old one somewhere more visible, a thief might toss the decoy and think they’ve gotten away clean. Unbeknownst to them, you’re still tracking the bag with the hidden device.
