The Best Places for Trick-Or-Treating in LA

Despite high prices, Americans are determined to get into the spirit of Halloween. After all, it’s the second-biggest commercial holiday in the United States, second only to Christmas.

Last year, families spent an all-time high of $12.2 billion on candy, costumes, decorations, and food for the season. This year, they are expected once again to shell out billions, and that includes money spent on treats.

According to Convenience Store News, half of shoppers intend to spend $51 or more on candy. This is a considerably higher amount than what they spent last year, when consumers purchased an average $31.93 worth of candy.

Total consumer spending on Halloween candy is expected to reach $3.5 billion this year, which is slightly lower than last year’s total. This is also the first decrease in expected spending since 2020, when Halloween activities dropped significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
