Update:

Despite what many people think, plenty of stimulus checks programs are still active in the United States in 2025 that can give access to extra money for those who need it most.

Despite the 2024 plans being now out of date, it’s not that simple, and there are still some initiatives that, simply put, never get claimed by those who don’t know what to do.

New York aid for residents

A new initiative by Governor Kathy Hochul of New York State is set to support more than 2.75 million children in “the single largest boost to New York’s child tax credit in its history” and pointed out that it would be “a significant increase above the value of the existing credit.”

The proposal would give 1.6 million New York families an annual tax credit of up to $1,000 per child under age four and up to $500 per child from four through sixteen.

The plan is set to be rolled out over the next two years, with households with children under four qualifying for a $1,000 credit for the 2025 tax year; those with children over four will receive a $500 credit for the 2026 tax year.

Colorado Tax Refunds

Colorado is providing a stimulus check through a rebate program designed to assist low-income residents struggling with high rent, heating, and property tax expenses.

Applicants who submitted their forms by April 15, 2024, will receive between $800 and $1,600, based on their circumstances. However, if you missed the deadline, you still have until December 31, 2025, to apply.

Eligible refunds can be as much as $1,112 per year for individuals with a 2023 income below $18,016, while joint filers must have earned less than $24,345.

Monthly support in California

Sacramento, California, has launched a basic income pilot program known as the Sacramento Family First Economic Support Pilot (FFESP), which provides selected families with monthly payments of $725.

The program aims to offer financial stability to vulnerable households while studying the impact of guaranteed income on the community. Currently, the program is one-of-a-kind: no known programs similar to FFESP exist in other U.S. cities or states and the pilot’s future will be determined by its success.
