Blood moon returns to the US: How to view the total lunar eclipse tonight and best locations

Residents of the United States are in store for another astronomical treat thanks to a total lunar eclipse which will take place between March 13 and 14. Read our full coverage for details on when you can expect the best views. 

When will totality take place?

NASA proviA useful graphic was shared a few hours before the eclipse began, estimating that full totality would start at 2:26 AM ET. However, the event will begin around midnight for those who don’t want to stay up as late.
