According to official information from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), on Sunday afternoon, an earthquake was recorded near Ojai in Ventura County.
The magnitude 5.1 earthquake occurred at 2:41 p.m. (local time) on August 20 and its epicenter was Ojai, between Santa Barbara and Ventura, taking place along the Sisar Fault. The tremor caused at least two aftershocks, measuring 3.1 and 3.6, which followed the initial quake.

Tropical storm Hilary has weakened from a category 4 strength-hurricane, but it will be the first tropical storm to hit Southern California since 1939. Hilary is expected to cause rare, significant impacts including extensive flooding.
According to data from the National Weather Service, no tropical storms have made landfall in southern California since September 25, 1939.
Tropical Storm Hilary causes flight cancellations
Flights have been canceled across San Diego, Los Angeles & Palm Springs airports due to the effects of Tropical Storm Hilary.
More than a third of flights in and out of San Diego have been cancelled, and around 40% from Palm Springs thus far. Los Angeles hasn't seen as many cancellations at the moment, with only five percent of flights cancelled so far.
Nevada governor declares state of emergency
Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo declared a state of emergency due to the imminent threat from Tropical Storm Hilary on Sunday, as current forecast models predict severe weather across the state of Nevada.
The emergency declaration follows Gov. Lombardo's decision to activate 100 Nevada National Guardsmen to Southern Nevada earlier this weekend.

Airlines suspend flights at Ontario Airport in California due to Tropical Storm Hilary
Southwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines have suspended flights to and from Ontario International Airport in California.
Southwest is suspending all flights from 12 p.m. PT Sunday through 10:30 a.m. PT Monday. while Frontier has suspended all flights Sunday and Monday.
Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for updates on their flights.
Ontario International Airport is situated about 40 miles east of Los Angeles.
