Update:

President Donald Trump announced that after a “long and productive meeting,” Israel agreed to the necessary conditions for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza. According to the U.S. president, during this time, all parties will work together to “end the war.”

“The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” the Republican president shared on his Truth Social account.

Trump did not reveal what the “necessary conditions” for the ceasefire that Israel accepted are. Israel launched a military operation in Gaza after Hamas carried out an attack on October 7, 2023, which resulted in about 1,200 deaths. According to the region’s Ministry of Health, more than 56,000 people have died in Gaza since then, and over 130,000 have been injured.

The news from President Trump comes a week after he himself announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran. Both countries said they will not break the ceasefire unless the other does first. The ceasefire announcement came days after the U.S. became involved in the conflict and launched strikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

Netanyahu to meet with President Trump

At the start of the government meeting on July 1, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he plans to meet next week in the United States with President Donald Trump; Vice President Vance; Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio; Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth; the presidential envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff; and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.

“We have several items to close beforehand in order to reach the trade agreement, and several additional matters; meetings with Congressional and Senate leaders and security meetings which I will not detail here,” the prime minister said. “These come in the wake of the great victory that we achieved in Operation Rising Lion. Taking advantage of the success is no less an important part of achieving the success” he added.
