The Social Security Administration is preparing to begin sending payments for the month of July, and on the first week of the month two checks will be sent.

Just as it does every month, the agency will send out benefits to retired workers, survivors, and recipients of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

The SSA will send two payments on the first week of July and the rest of the checks on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month.

This is how July Social Security payments will be sent

As indicated by the agency’s regular payment schedule, Supplemental Security Income payments will be sent on the first day of the month, so in July they will be sent on Monday, July 1.

On Wednesday, July 3, payments will be sent to those who began receiving their retirement payments before May 1997. If these beneficiaries also receive the SSI payment, they will receive both payments within the first week of next month.

Other Social Security beneficiaries, whether they receive retired workers or survivors payments, and are also beneficiaries of Supplemental Security Income, will receive their SSI payment on Monday, July 1 and their other payment on the designated Wednesday depending on their day of birth.

The complete Social Security payment schedule for July

  • Monday July 1: SSI Beneficiaries
  • Wednesday July 3: Beneficiaries who began receiving their payments before May 1997
  • Wednesday July 10: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 1st and the 10th
  • Wednesday July 17: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 11th and the 20th

Payments are sent via direct deposit to beneficiaries who have shared their bank account details with the Social Security Administration, or via postal mail in a paper check, which takes longer to arrive. If you do not receive your payment on the indicated date, the SSA recommends that you wait three more days before contacting the agency, to allow for postal delays.
