Attorney General Merrick Garland spoke this Wednesday at the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he focussed his remarks on upholding the rule of law, maintaining national security, and protecting civil rights. Republican senate members heavily grilled Garland on various topics, where the attorney General left some very controversial comments while trying to defend himself.

While being pressed by Lindsay Graham on the opioid crisis, the attorney general blamed Mexican cartels for the fentanyl epidemic.

“It’s a horrible epidemic, but it’s an epidemic that’s been unleashed on purpose by the Sinaloa and the new generation Jalisco cartels.” Said Garland.

The attorney general added, “They are not stopping fentanyl from killing Americans, horrible epidemic unleashed on purpose.” Harsh words will not be very well received in Mexico. Even though Garland claimed that the Mexican government it’s helping but not enough.
