Through a statement and a post on social media, Trump announced that Elon Musk will work together with Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, eliminate excessive regulations, cut unnecessary spending, and restructure federal agencies essential to the Save America movement,” the president-elect shared.

“This will send shock waves through the system and anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people,” Musk said.

It will potentially become the ‘Manhattan Project’ of our time. Republican politicians have long dreamed of DOGE’s goals. To drive this kind of dramatic change, the Department of Government Efficiency will provide advice and guidance from outside the government, and will partner with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to drive large-scale structural reform and create an entrepreneurial approach to government never before seen,” Trump added.

The Republican also expressed his desire for changes to be made to the federal bureaucracy by the owner of X, formerly Twitter, as well as by the former Republican presidential candidate.

“Importantly, we will root out the massive waste and fraud that exists in our $6.5 trillion annual government spending. They will work together to liberate our economy and hold the United States government accountable to “WE THE PEOPLE,” he said, adding that their work will conclude no later than July 4, 2026, just in time for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
