The Vice President’s House was designed by Leon Emil Dessez with the original intention of housing the USNO superintendent. Construction of the house, which overlooks Massachusetts Avenue, was completed in 1893. In 1923, the Chief of Naval Operations was so impressed with the facility that he kicked the superintendent out so that he could move in himself, as US government archives explain.
In 1974, Congress agreed to renovate the Naval Observatory House and convert it into the official residence of the vice president. Walter Mondale of the Jimmy Carter administration was the first vice president to move into the observatory residence.
Where does the Vice President of the United States live?
Contrary to what many might believe, the Vice President of the United States does not reside in the White House, as the President typically does. The second-in-command’s residence, also known as the “Vice President’s House,” is located on the grounds of the United States Naval Observatory (USNO) in northwest Washington, DC. It is located at Observatory Rotunda #1.

Kamala Harris "I strongly disagree with criticism of people based on who they vote for"
The Vice President and Democratic nominee responded to comments made by Joe Biden where he referred to Trump supporters as "garbage."
President Biden clarified those comments shortly after saying he was not talking about voters but those speaking at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally who made offensive and racist remarks. One of the speakers at that rally, which took place on Sunday, referred to Puerto Rico as a "island of garbage."
The vice president said that she remains committed to being a president for all Americans.
Comments made by President Joe Biden during a virtual campaign event on Tuesday sparked backlash after many online accused him of referring to Trump supporters as trash.

Early voting begins in New York
As of October 30, the Florida Election Lab has tracked 55 million ballots cast. Over 29 million early votes have been cast, and 25.9 million mail-in ballots have been received. Of mail-in ballots, the figure amounts to around 39 percent of the 65.6 million requested by voters across the country.
In 2020, a total of 158,429,631 ballots were cast. The 55 million early and mail-in votes account for a third of the votes cast in 2020, highlighting how many millions more voters will cast a ballot on or before election day. Among the early vote count by party affiliation, Democrats comprised 39.2 percent, while Republicans made up 36.1 percent. Additionally, 24.7 percent of voters did not report a party affiliation.
AtlasIntel releases swing state projections
AtlasIntel is a polling organization that managed to predict the outcomes of many swing state elections more effectively than traditional pollsters. With less than a week until Election Day and over 53 million ballots already cast, they find Trump ahead by tiny margins in all swing states, minus North Carolina. Trump's lead appears to be the largest in Arizona (+3.5 percent) and Georgia (+3.4 percent), and the organization found that result to be outside of the margin of error, meaning that the former president's lead is real in those states. In the other swing states, the race remains so close that the results fall within the margin of error.

Around forty percent of the US population was enrolled in Medicare (60 million) or Medicaid (80 million) in 2022. Medicare requires members to be 65 or older, while Medicaid provides health insurance coverage to low-income individuals and families.
Donald Trump understands that many of his supporters are older and is careful when discussing any Medicare changes. Like other Republicans, he never addresses making cuts to the program. Instead, he promises to remove government regulation and red tape that drive up market prices. Read more.
538 sees the 2024 election hinging on Pennsylvania
Of the seven swing states, Pennsylvania has the most electoral votes, at 19, that it will give to either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris. The state is a toss-up and the results will depend on voter turnout from the two candidates supporters. Five-Thirty-Eight sees the Keystone State as the tipping point that will get one of the two over the 270-vote finish line and into the White House.
Voters to decide on nearly 150 ballot measures across the US
Next week, voters across the country will decide on nearly 150 baloot measures that will shape the future of a wide variety of policy issues in their states.
Constitutional amendments related to abortion rights have attracted the most national attention in an election year that has otherwise been dominated by the presidential race.

Kennedy, who suspended his presidential campaign in August and endorsed Trump, said during a live-streamed organizing event that Trump told him he would oversee a vast public health portfolio if Trump returns to the White House, adding that he would prioritize his agenda to “make America healthy.”
