US ELECTION 2024
Why won’t Kamala Harris speak tonight? When will she address the media and the voters?
Vice-president Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate in the 2024 US presidential election, won’t be speaking tonight.
Democratic candidate Kamala Harris won’t be speaking tonight, her campaign co-chair has told attendees at her Howard University watch party.
Harris will wait until Wednesday before making a public address.
“You won’t hear from the vice-president tonight”
“We still have votes to count, we still have states that have not been called yet,” Cedric Richmond told the crowd at HU, in Washington, D.C. “We will continue overnight to fight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken, so you won’t hear from the vice-president tonight, but you will hear from her tomorrow.
“She will be back tomorrow to address not only the HU family, not only her supporters, but to address the nation.”
Trump leading the White House race
The announcement came with Harris trailing her opponent, Republican ex-president Donald Trump, who had secured key victories in Georgia and North Carolina, the two swing states called so far.
At the time of writing, Trump had secured 247 electoral votes to Harris’s 214, with 270 needed to claim the presidency.
Will Trump be speaking today?
Yes. While Harris won’t be speaking tonight, Trump is set to make an address at his watch party in West Palm Beach, Florida.
