Telecommunications company Verizon is making a huge payout after it being alleged that the company “implemented and charged” customers in a “deceptive and unfair manner”.

In total, $100 million will be sent out to customers that paid an administrative charge over a seven-year period.

In a statement to CNET, a Verizon spokesperson said the company “clearly identifies and describes its wireless consumer Admin Charge multiple times during the sales transaction, as well as in its marketing, contracts and billing. This charge helps our company recover certain regulatory compliance and network-related costs.”

Who is eligible and how to file a claim

Those who are eligible are customers who paid an administrative charge or an administrative and telco recovery charge between 1 January, 2016, and 8 November, 2023.

According to the official Verizon administrative charge settlement website, if you “notice about this settlement by email or mail, you are in the Settlement Class according to Verizon’s records,” thus eligible to claim.

All this can be done online by submitting a claim.

The deadline to submit a claim is 15 April, 2024. If you want to opt out then you need ti mail a request by 20 February, 2024 here.
