Lemons are highly versatile, with endless uses in the kitchen and as a health remedy. A viral video has demonstrated the best way to extract its juice.

Lemons are a well-loved citrus fruit in the United States, with consumption rising in the country in recent years. Its popularity is not surprising given this fruit’s versatility in the kitchen, health benefits, and practical uses around the home.

Whether you need to use lemon juice to add some zest to a recipe or as a cleaning agent in different parts of your house, you can choose from a variety of ways to extract it from the fruit, which should be stored properly.

The most common methods include cutting the fruit in half- crosswise or lengthwise depending on which school of thought you belong to- then squeezing it either by using your fingers, a manual lemon juicer, a fork, or some other gadget invented for this purpose.

Despite the number of options available to juice this fruit, a viral video has shown what appears to be the best- or at the very least the one that leaves practically no mess- way extract lemon juice.

This TikTok video from user Gerson Repreza that speaks on the topic has already accumulated 1.4 million likes as of this writing. He demonstrates how you simply poke a hole in the dimpled end of the lemon, also known as the blossom end, then squeeze the juice out of it.

How to improve this lemon juice extraction hack

This method, which leaves no seeds and no mess, can be tweaked to make squeezing out the juice even easier.

Before poking a hole, roll the lemon back and forth a few times on your kitchen counter while pressing firmly. This will loosen up the juice from the pulp, and will make “milking” the lemon easier.

Another option to get more juice from the lemon is to pop it into the microwave for 10-30 seconds. Let it cool, then roll it on the counter as described above. This should make extracting the juice “easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy”, as one user commented on the video.
