How much is the Powerball jackpot now?

For Saturday’s Powerball drawing, the jackpot stood at an estimated $1.5bn, with a cash option of $686.5 million million. As no tickets picked up the grand prize, however, the total has again rolled over - and is now the fourth-largest in the lottery’s history.

The new, $1.6bn jackpot will come with a $735.3 million cash option, organizers say.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

The next Powerball drawing is scheduled to take place on Monday, Dec. 22.

Winners of the grand prize have two options:

• An annuity payment spread over 30 annual instalments that grow each year.

• A lump-sum cash option, which is smaller but paid all at once.

While the jackpot often captures the headlines, there are also numerous smaller prizes. Secondary prizes range from $4 to $1 million or more, depending on how many of the winning numbers they matched. Players who add the Power Play option can multiply the size of non-jackpot prizes.
