What did Barack Obama and Bill Clinton say about the shooting of Donald Trump?
Democratic former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama agreed that violence is never the answer, in politics or otherwise.
After former president Donald Trump was shot at during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, many people spoke out against the brutal act of violence that ended up killing one person and critically injuring two others. Other former presidents have spoken out against the senseless act of violence as well, with George W. Bush calling it a “cowardly attack”.

Despite political differences, everyone can agree that violence is not the way to settle them. The shooting ended up wounding Donald Trump and killing/harming other innocent people.
What did Obama and Clinton say about the shooting?
Former president Barack Obama released a statement condemning the violence and expressing gratitude that Trump is safe and healthy.
“There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy,” Obama wrote. “Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics. Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery.”
Former president Bill Clinton shared Obama’s sentiments.
Clinton said: “Violence has no place in America”, and went on to express how thankful he and Hillary are that Trump is okay, but also how “heartbroken” they feel due to those who were affected by the brutal attacks on Saturday.
