What is prostate cancer?
Prostate cancer is a disease that occurs when cells in the prostate gland grow uncontrollably. The prostate is a small, walnut-shaped gland in the male reproductive system located below the bladder and in front of the rectum.
Prostate cancer begins when some prostate cells mutate and start to multiply without control. These abnormal cells can eventually spread outside the prostate to other parts of the body (metastasis), forming secondary tumors.

The risk of prostate cancer increases significantly with age, especially after 50 and can often be genetic.
Treatment options depend on several factors, including the stage and grade of the cancer, the patient’s age and overall general health.
The prognosis for prostate cancer can sometimes be good, especially when the cancer is found early and is confined to the prostate gland.
