What services are not working in USA after the CrowdStrike failure that has affected Microsoft?

The recent failure of CrowdStrike, a prominent cybersecurity firm, has sent shockwaves through sectors in the United States, leading to significant service disruptions as Americans wake up on Friday morning..
Microsoft 365 posted on X that the company was “working on rerouting the impacted traffic to alternate systems to alleviate impact in a more expedient fashion” and that positive results are already being seen.
Emergency services at risk
One of the most critical areas affected has been emergency services. The outage led to disruptions in 911 call centers. Non-emergency call centers were also impacted, resulting in longer response times and increased anxiety among those in need of urgent assistance.

Transportation chaos affecting passengers globally
The airline industry faced immediate repercussions as major carriers, including American Airlines, Delta, and United, were forced to ground flights. This has led to widespread travel delays and cancellations, affecting thousands of passengers.

According to FlightAware, Frontier, the airline company, has cancelled nearly 20% of its flights and a further 27% are delayed.
The disruption extended beyond the skies; ground transportation services also experienced delays, as systems used for scheduling and managing logistics were compromised.
Financial Transactions Impacted
Customers have faced difficulties with electronic transactions, including issues with EFTPOS systems, which are essential for daily commerce. However, stock markets are still expected to open though it’s not yet clear how markets will react.
“NYSE markets are fully operational and we expect a normal open this morning,” aspokesperson said.
According to DownDetector, reports indicate that there are problems with VISA, the majority resulting with payments followed by complaints about the functioning of the website.
