The divorce
During the divorce, Donald Trump agreed to pay her $25 million and she was given their mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut. Donald was also mandated to pay $650,000 in child support annually until their children were eighteen. The two remained on good terms after their divorce and when Donald Trump was in the White House she stated that she had a direct line.
Ivana goes into busiess
In the years following her divorce various business ventures helped grow her wealth.
After the divorce she went on to establish her own clothing, fashion, jewelry, and beauty businesses. The products were primarily sold QVC London and the Home Shopping Network.
In the mid-1990s she was also given an advice column at Globe called “Ask Ivana.” The column ran for more than fifteen years between 1995 and 2010, during which she also published various books from different genres.
In 2017, Ivana published a memoir titled “Raising Trump” which detailed the early years of her marriage to Donald when her three children were born. The book is full of shocking, sentimental, and funny quotes, that were carefully compiled by Tina Jordan and David Canfield at Entertainment Weekly.
For example, Michael Jackson was the only person “who had an open invitation to come to the triplex [at Trump Tower] for playdates whenever he wanted.” Ivana also recalled receiving a call from Donald Sr. where he said “‘Ivana, I’m keeping Don. You’re not getting him back.” She replied: “Okay, keep him, [..] ‘I have two other kids to raise.’” Shortly after, a bodyguard brought her eldest son back.
“My version of helicopter parenting was to bring the kids to work with me in the Trump chopper” said Ivana, making a joke about the overbearing nature of parents today.
Although her life was unconventional, Ivana Trump was a loved by her family and will be missed by them.
