The United States will celebrate Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 2. This is one of 11 holidays recognized by the government, and since it is an official holiday, some institutions will be closed. However, most supermarkets and restaurants will remain open.
As a public holiday, federal offices are required by law to close on Labor Day, giving government employees a paid day off. Other establishments such as banks, schools, stock exchanges, and post offices, are usually closed for business as well.
Meanwhile, supermarkets, restaurants and pharmacies usually remain open.

Major supermarkets across the country, including Walmart, Sam’s Club and Target, will be open on Monday, while Costco will be the only major retailer to be closed for the day.
Although Target and Sam’s Club stores will be open on Labor Day, opening hours will vary by location, so we recommend checking with your local store for specific holiday hours.
Most Walmart stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Labor Day. Home Depot will also be open.

Costco will be closed as Labor Day is included in its list of official holidays. According to its holiday calendar, Costco locations in the United States are closed on New Year’s Day, Easter Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens will be open on Monday, but hours may vary by location.
Most restaurants will be open on Labor Day
Major restaurants and food chains will be open on Labor Day on September 2. These include: McDonald’s, Starbucks, Dunkin’, Chick-fil-A, Wendy’s, Subway, Taco Bell, Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden, Waffle House, IHOP, Applebee’s and Hooters. Some restaurants are offering deals for the holiday.
