The 74th annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, 12 September. Here’s how to watch the show for free in the United States.
Monday evening will host this year’s edition of the Emmy Awards, basically the Oscars of television. After Netflix’s The Crown cleaned up at the 2021 awards, you can expect a much more varied field for the top awards including big hits like Better Call Saul, Stranger Things and Succession.
Giants like Netflix, HBO Max and Apple TV+ all boast numerous nominations and will be hoping to bring home some silverware on Sunday night.
How to watch the Emmy Awards live in the United States
The 74th annual Primetime Emmys will be held on Sunday, 12 September at 8pm (ET) / 5pm (PT).
The show will be broadcast live on NBC across the United States. NBCboasts an extensive local broadcast network that can usually be accessed through a standard TV antenna, or included in a cable TV package.
You will also be available to view the ceremony on various streaming platforms. For the first time, the Emmy’s will be livestreamed on Peacock. If you use a free trial then you can watch it for nothing there.
Paramount+, Roku, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV, AT&T TV, Sling TV and Fubo TV will all be showing the Emmy Awards, but be sure to check that they operate in your area.
How to watch the Emmy Awards live around the world
With such big names on show there will undoubtedly be an international audience for the awards, but outside of the United States there will be fewer options for viewers.
In Canada the show will be broadcast live, but is only available on CTV, CTV.ca or through the CTV mobile app.
Viewers in the United Kingdom will be able to watch the show on Sky Showcase, though not every person will be able to access this if they don’t have a Sky box.
