As the saying goes, ‘why put off till tomorrow what you can do today?’ Well, when it comes to the early voting for the 2024 presidential election, ‘today’ begins in New York on Saturday, October 26, 2024. It continues through Sunday, November 3 ahead of the big day itself on Tuesday, November 5. That means New Yorkers can get a head start on their voting, with polling places offering extended hours ranging from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on most days.

This window provides ample opportunity to vote at a convenient time – whether you’re squeezing it in before brunch or after work. Just remember, double-check your local polling site to avoid any Election Day detours.

How do I find my early voting site?

Early voters in New York will need to vote at their designated polling location, which might not be your regular Election Day spot. Luckily, the NYC Board of Elections provides a handy lookup tool to ensure you’re headed in the right direction. Don’t let confusion lead you to the wrong polling place – it’s not exactly the kind of surprise anyone is looking for when trying to cast a ballot!

Why should I vote early?

Voting early has its perks: shorter lines, less stress, and no frantic November dash to the polls. Plus, it’s a great way to secure your participation in the democratic process, even if something unexpected pops up on Election Day – because no one wants a surprise meeting or a forgotten dentist appointment to get in the way of casting their vote.

So, New Yorkers, mark your calendars for October 26 and take advantage of the early voting period. Whether you’re an early bird or a last-minute planner, there’s a time slot waiting for you! Now you just have to make the right decision for you.
