The changing of the seasons brings with it the same familiar reminders and, for many, fall is one of the best times of the year. A chilly breeze in the air. Piles of reddish leaves adorning the sidewalk. Halloween treats popping up in stores across the country.

And as the weather cools and the days shorten, many will be rejoicing in the chance to buy a Pumpkin Spice Latte for the first time in months.

But while the pumpkin spiced treats are traditionally seen a mark of fall, the caffeine season has moved earlier this year. Major stores like Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, 7-Eleven and Krispy Kreme, which kicked off its pumpkin spice season on 8 August, are all bringing back their fall menu sooner than expected! Pumpkin Spice is back on the menu.

Pumpkin Spice Latte is back for 2022

Last week, 7-Eleven announced the limited-time return of its Pumpkin Spice Latte and Pumpkin Spice Coffee becoming one of the first to bring back pumpkins in 2022.

Meanwhile, Dunkin’ Donuts will be offering the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte, pumpkin doughnuts and muffins on 17 August. Pumpkin Spice aficionados will be delighted to learn that the well-known bakery chain is offering the seasonal treat for just $3 to kick things off.

From 17 August - 13 September, you can get a medium Dunkin’ Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew or Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte for just $3.

Even Oreo is getting in on the PSL hype and reintroduced the controversial Pumpkin Spice sandwich cookie on 15 August.

However the undisputed king of the Pumpkin Spice genre can be found at Starbucks, where the autumnal treat first came to national attention. The 19th year of the Starbuck fall menu will go live on Tuesday, 30 August, meaning that fans can get their PSL fix from today onwards!

The iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte will be returning in its original form, of course, but as always Starbucks is keen to build on its success with a range of other products.

The Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew will be back on the menu for a fouth year, for those who prefer their coffee cold. And what better to accompany a mouthful of Pumpkin Spice drink than the seasonal food options, fronted by the PSL trio of Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin, Pumpkin Scone and the year-round Pumpkin Loaf.

Any heretics looking for a wintery alternative to the Pumpkin Spice hegemony can rejoice as the Apple Crisp Macchiato returns in 2022 with an updated recipe.

Starbucks’ beverage developer Harvey Rojas Mora explains that the Apple Crisp will now be made with oat milk, to give the drink “a soft and smooth foundation that ties all the flavors together,” while patrons can enjoy a new ”creaminess [that] brings forward the oat flavors of a traditional apple crisp topping.”
