A former WWE Star teams up with Amazon to play Kratos in ‘God of War’

With filming for the ‘God of War’ series already underway, Ryan Hurst (Kratos) suffered a torn bicep that will keep him sidelined for several months, leaving Amazon with no choice but to find a replacement. When the king is dead, long live the king—and the first candidate is already here: Adam Scherr, better known on the wrestling circuit as Braun Strowman.

Sony and Amazon have set a goal to begin filming with the new Kratos in October, so the search for an actor is obviously a race against the clock. This currently makes Scherr the first name to emerge as a contender for the role of the Spartan, and you only have to look at him to see that he fits the part like a glove.

The wrestler has been very active on social media in recent days, during which he has not only posted photos of himself positioning himself as a candidate to play Kratos, but has also shown a business card indicating that he has, in fact, been at Amazon’s offices. Thus, what initially seemed like mere self-promotion has turned into a real indication that Scherr has already met with the company to join the ‘God of War’ team.

Rumors suggest that by the time Hurst was injured, filming for four episodes had already been completed, but the production team’s plans moving forward remain unclear: whether to film the remaining six episodes of the first season (which will consist of 10) with Scherr and digitally edit the first four, or to start from scratch with the new actor.

Who is Adam Scherr/Braun Strowman?

Scherr is a 6′7″, 385 lbs behemoth with a distinguished career in WWE, the world’s most popular wrestling organization. He was let go last August 2025, primarily due to his salary and his age (42), but as we can see from the photos he’s posted on social media, he remains in fantastic physical shape.
