The Democratic National Convention (DNC) kicked off on Monday, marking the official start of Kamala Harris’s and Tim Walz’s campaigns for President and Vice President of the United States. President Joe Biden, who had initially been set to face Donald Trump in the 2024 election before stepping aside, delivered the opening address of the convention. Adding to the day’s highlights, Steve Kerr, the coach of the Golden State Warriors and Team USA, made headlines with a strong message directed at Trump.

Tuesday at the DNC: it’s Obama time!

Former President Barack Obama is slated to speak on Tuesday – along with others – addressing an estimated crowd of 50,000 attendees in Chicago. While his speech is eagerly anticipated, his wife, Michelle Obama, is expected to garner just as much attention. It’s worth noting that some had urged her to run for the nomination before Harris was selected.

The theme for the convention’s second day is “A Bold Vision for America’s Future” under Harris’s leadership. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker will deliver a welcoming address, with the Obamas headlining the evening’s speeches. Michelle Obama will take the stage first, followed by her husband.
