While states like Texas have gained 29 million residents in the last decade, there are some cities in the United States that are grappling with populating certain areas due to their distance from urban centers.

According to an article by La Opinión, in an effort to populate remote areas in the country, there are three cities that are giving away land to those who would move to live there.

US cities that give you free land to relocate

Mankato, Kansas

With just 900 inhabitants, the city of Mankato in Kansas is giving away more than two dozen lots to anyone who agrees to build their home in the area in a period of six months.

The grounds are located half a mile from the city's business district and have a hospital, school and a couple of motels nearby.

Tulsa, Oklahoma

Despite being the second largest city in Oklahoma, Tulsa has experienced a population decline in recent months. To address this, the government has launched the program Tulsa Remote.

Through this, remote workers with jobs in the city but with homes outside of it are encouraged to move and live in Tulsa. Tulsa Remote will award $10,000 to qualified participants to purchase a home in the city, which is equivalent to covering 25% of the approximate median home price.
