Despite massive layoffs, there are places in the United States where more workers are needed. These are the states with the biggest need for more employees.

In recent months there has been a wave of massive layoffs in the United States, resulting in the bankruptcy of various companies. An example of this is Bed Bath & Beyond, a company that filed for bankruptcy on April 23, weeks after laying off thousands of employees.

According to a report by the finance portal WalletHub, the labor force participation rate is still below pre-pandemic levels, as many companies are facing a lack of capital to keep their employees.

However, there are certain regions of the country where more workers are needed compared to others, resulting in greater job offers, as employers have a harder time recruiting. Here are the states which have the biggest need for workers, according to an analysis carried out by WalletHub.

Which US states need more workers?

The analysis compared the employment situation in the 50 states of the country and the District of Columbia based on the rate of job offers in the last month and in the last 12 months. Based on these metrics, these are the states in the US where employers need the most workers:

Alaska

  • Rate of job offers in the last month: 7.60%
  • Rate of job offers in the last year: 8.99%

Georgia

  • Rate of job offers in the last month: 7.90%
  • Rate of job offers in the last year: 7.83%

West Virginia

  • Rate of job offers in the last month: 7.50%
  • Rate of job offers in the last year: 8.01%

Louisiana

  • Rate of job offers in the last month: 7.50%
  • Rate of job offers in the last year: 7.70%

Virginia

  • Rate of job offers in the last month: 7.20%
  • Rate of job offers in the last year: 7.52%
