The events occurred on October 21, 2021 on the set of the independent western. According to the charges, Baldwin pointed a prop gun at Hutchins, who was behind the camera supervising the shot. However, the revolver was loaded with live ammunition, which caused Hutchins’ death.

The actor has pleaded not guilty to the charges, but if found otherwise, he could face up to 18 months in prison. According to various reports, the trial could last around two weeks. Who will have the task of proving the actor’s innocence?

Who is Alex Spiro, Alec Baldwin's lawyer in the 'Rust' manslaughter trial?

Baldwin’s defense is led by well-known celebrity attorney Alex Spiro, who has an impressive track record in jury trials. Spiro currently works in Miami in his own law firm, which has 33 branches around the world, according to The New Yorker.

The firm has more than 100 lawyers, but when cases go to trial, Spiro takes the lead role. The New Yorker says Spiro’s presence is “magnetic” and that he is very persuasive in court.

Spiro has a long list of celebrity clients, including Mick Jagger, Jay-Z, and Naomi Osaka, according to Vanity Fair. He has also been reported to once have charged a client $2,025 per hour.

During the trial, the lawyer must demonstrate to the jury that it is not the job of an actor to ensure that there are no real bullets in the prop weapons, since there are people in charge of this. The gunsmith in the film was already sentenced to 18 months in prison for the same case.
