Update:

Republicans received another rebuke from voters on Tuesday, this time in a special election to fill the state House seat for Florida District 87. First-time Democratic candidate Emily Gregory has beat the Trump-backed Republican candidate Jon Maples by just over two-percentage points.

That is a major reversal in a district that includes President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago beach club, and where he votes. The previous Republican candidate, Mike Caruso, who stepped down to become the Palm Beach County clerk and comptroller, sailed to victory in 2024 with a 19-point margin.
