The rumor mill is swirling around the Royal Family, stirring up old stories about an alleged affair Prince William had. Who is this rumored mistress?

Who is Prince William’s rumored mistress?

The Prince and Princess of Wales released a photo of Kate Middleton, and their three children, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte for Mother’s Day that has triggered a PR disaster. It’s also fueled speculation regarding Kate’s health; she underwent surgery in January and has barely been seen in public this year. Additionally, it set the rumor mill spinning out of control.

In the churn, it has resurfaced a 2019 story from the dregs of the internet about an alleged affair that her husband Prince William was having with Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley. The fervor of which even earned it a spot as part of Stephen Colbert’s monologue on the Late Show.

Who is Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley?

Sarah Rose Hanbury is married to David Rocksavage, 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley. The couple meet in Italy in 2003 and were married six years later in a quiet ceremony at the Chelsea Town Hall according to the Independent. They have three children together, 15-year-old twin sons Alexander and Oliver and 8-year-old daughter Iris.

Before getting married, Hanbury worked as a fashion model and as a political staffer for Tory MP Michael Gove. She now manages the estate of her husband.

The Marchioness of Cholmondeley comes from the aristocracy on both sides of her parents. Her paternal grandmother was the daughter of Sir Henry Birkin and her maternal grandmother was the daughter of Field Marshal Rudolph Lambart, 10th Earl of Cavan.

Lady Rose, the Marquess and her family have close ties with the Royal Family. David and Rose, who live at Houghton Hall in Norfolk, are neighbors and close friends of the Prince and Princess of Wales, who live at Anmer Hall just four miles away.

Their son, Lord Oliver, served as one of the eight pages of honor for King Charles III at the British monarch’s 2023 coronation alongside Prince George. Lady Elizabeth Lambart was a bridesmaid at the wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten in 1947.
