Who receives $943 from Social Security on April 1?
The Social Security Administration is preparing to send out April payments. Here are the beneficiaries who will receive their money on Monday, April 1.
As March comes to a close, the Social Security Administration (SSA) prepares to send payments for the month of April.
The SSA sends monthly payments to beneficiaries of retirement programs, survivors, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
Payments are sent on specific dates, which are established thanks to the SSA payment schedule, as stated below.
The Social Security and SSI payment schedule
Supplemental Security Income payments are sent on the first day of each month. Meanwhile, on the third day of each month, money is sent to Social Security beneficiaries who began receiving their payments before May 1997.
If a beneficiary receives payment from Social Security (retirees or survivors) and SSI at the same time, the SSI money is sent on the first day of the month and the Social Security money is sent on the third day.
The rest of the Social Security checks (retirees, survivors and SSDI) are sent on Wednesdays. The sending date is established according to the day of birth of the beneficiaries:
- Second Wednesday of the month: retirees with a date of birth between the 1st and 10th
- Third Wednesday: beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th
- Fourth Wednesday: retirees born between the 21st and the 31st
If any payment date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or federal holiday, shipping is advanced to the preceding business day. Payments are sent via direct deposit to recipients who have given their bank account details to the SSA or via mail on a paper check, which take longer to arrive.

Social Security beneficiaries who receive payment on April 1
Following the SSA schedule, SSI recipient payments are scheduled to be sent out on Monday, April 1. This year, SSI benefits have risen to $943 for individuals and $1,415 for couples.
On the other hand, the payment is sent on Wednesday, April 3 for beneficiaries who began receiving their payments before May 1997. The rest of the April payments will be sent on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month:
- Wednesday the 10th: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 1st and the 10th
- Wednesday the 17th: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 11th and the 20th
- Wednesday the 24th: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 21st and the 31st

By 2024, average payments for retired workers rose to just over $1,900, according to the SSA. Other Social Security payments would be as follows for 2024, according to the Social Security Administration:
- Surviving spouse with two children: $3,540 to $3,653
- Single elderly surviving spouse: $1,718 to $1,773
- Worker with a disability, his or her spouse, and one or more children: from $2,636 to $2,720
- All workers with a disability: from $1,489 to $1,537
The maximum benefit at age 62 is $2,710; at age 65 it is $3,426; and at age 66 it is $3,652. As for payments claimed at full retirement age (67 years for people born after 1960), the maximum benefit is $3,822. Those who delay their retirement until age 70 are eligible for a maximum payment of $4,873.
