The Social Security Administration (SSA) issues millions of payments to beneficiaries of the agency’s programs each month. Recipients are mostly retired workers. Those with birth dates from the 11th to the 20th on the third Wednesday, and those from the 20th to the 31st, the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Employees who retired before May 1997, like SSI beneficiaries, do not fall into the previous scheme because they receive the money on the first days of the month, regardless of their date of birth.
