Some California workers will receive a pay increase in July. Find out who will benefit from the upcoming wage hike.
Who will get a pay raise in California in July 2026? These workers will benefit
In July, certain California workers will see their wages increase under legislation signed by Governor Gavin Newsom in October 2023.
California’s current statewide minimum wage is $16.90 per hour. However, beginning next month, some workers will receive an additional increase, bringing their hourly pay above the state minimum.
Who will receive a pay raise in California this July?
In October 2023, Governor Newsom signed Senate Bill 525 (SB 525), which established phased minimum wage increases for thousands of healthcare workers across California. The law took effect one year later, and scheduled wage increases will continue throughout 2026.
The increase applies to certain employees working in hospitals, clinics, dialysis centers, and other healthcare support facilities. Wage rates vary depending on the size of the facility and the type of employer. To qualify for the higher minimum wage, workers must meet specific eligibility requirements.
For example, employees must work at healthcare facilities covered by the law and either provide healthcare services directly or support the delivery of healthcare services. A complete list of covered healthcare facilities is available through the state’s labor guidelines.
