Why has Balenciaga ended relationship with TAFKA Kanye West?
The French fashion house has cut ties with the artist now known as ‘Ye’ after his own Parisian faux pas.
The artist formally known as Kanye West has seen his relationship with Balenciaga ended. News of the break up was announced by the French fashion house on Friday by WWD after the publication of parent company Kering’s results from the third quarter of 2022.
“Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” the message came from Kering via the news outlet.
Why has Ye been dropped?
The reason for the announcement is likely obvious to anyone who has been following recent news of the musician, who has been courting controversy away from the industry for several months. Public comments, including anti-Semitic threats and questioning George Floyd’s death, have raised question marks about his suitability to be the face of popular brands.
This was exacerbated at the Paris Fashion Week where he wore a ‘White Lives Matter’ t-shirt, which had many quickly calling out the former-wannabe-president rapper.
The move by Balenciaga comes after similar disengagements from the likes of Tremaine Emory, GAP and adidas.
