Why isn’t Facebook working right now? Is Instagram down? Meta outage

Social media giant Meta, formerly known as Facebook, faced a major outage today, leaving millions of users worldwide unable to access its platforms fully. The disruption, which began around 14:30 p.m. Eastern Time in the United States also hit users in other parts of the world.

Instagram has also reportedly been affected.

Meta has yet to provide an official statement regarding the outage or an estimated time for resolution.

DownDetector, a website that tracks online service interruptions, reported widespread issues with Meta’s apps and websites, as well as difficulties for users trying to access their accounts. The exact cause of the outage remains unknown at the time of writing, but it comes just a fortnight after a March dotted with Meta technical issues.

Reports from users submitted to DownDetector indicate that all of Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger have been affected. An ongoing Whatsapp outage seems to be mroe severe.
