Republican Senator Mitt Romney says he will not vote for Donald Trump in November because a court found that he sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in the 90s.
Sen. Mitt Romney has stated he will not vote for Donald Trump as president, this time because a court found that he sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in the 1990s.
A Manhattan jury last year found Trump liable for sexually abusing and defaming the journalist and awarded her $5 million in damages in the civil case.
Trump called the ruling “a disgrace”, and vowed to appeal the ruling.
Another jury last month ordered the ex-president to pay Carroll $83.3 million in damages for defamation, after he denied that he had ever met her.

Romney focuses on sexual abuse ruling
Romney’s latest statements against Trump are putting the spotlight on the sexual assault case in the midst of the 91 felonies the GOP frontrunner for president is facing.
“I must admit that I find sexual assault to be a line I will not cross in the people I select to be my president,” Romney told reporters.
The Utah senator has long been an outspoken critic of Trump. He voted twice to convict the former president on impeachment charges, saying that he violated his oath of office as US president.

Romney has never voted for Trump as president
Romney has also admitted he did not vote for Trump in 2016, instead writing his wife’s name on the ballot. He also did not cast Trump’s name when he sought re-election in 2020.
The senator’s criticism continues to build up before the 2024 presidential election. He told CBS News that Trump winning in November “would be devastating” for the United States.
On NBC News’ Meet the Press, Romney said he would not rule out voting for President Joe Biden and says Trump’s behavior has shown that he will try to impose his will on the other branches of government and on the whole country.
“There’s no question he has authoritarian rulings and interests and notions which he will try and impose. That’s dangerous for the country,” said Romney.
