YouTube group The Try Guys have announced that Ned Fulmer will be leaving the gang after the recent scandal regarding his affair with a company employee came to light.

The 35-year-old, who is married to interior designer Ariel Fulmer and has two children, had reportedly spoken to the group to confirm the allegations and inform them of his decision to leave. The remaining members – Eugene Lee Yang, Zach Kornfield and Keith Habersberger – addressed the situation in a YouTube video entitle ‘what happened’.

“On Labor Day weekend, multiple fans alerted us that they had seen Ned and an employee engaging in public romantic behavior,” Habersbeger said. “We reached out to check on that employee. Ned confirmed the reports.”

“We were acutely aware of just how contrary this was the values of the company we’ve built and those of everyone who works here,” Yang added. “This is something we took very seriously. We refused to sweep things under the rug. That is not who we are. It’s not what we stand for.”

How was Ned Fulmer removed from The Try Guys?

Formed in 2014 under the umbrella of BuzzFeed, The Try Guys troupe has remained the same four men for the past eight years. In 2017 the group was nominated for the audience award at the Streamys, the awards ceremony for digital content creator.

In 2018 they left BuzzFeed and founded their own independent production company, called 2nd Try LLC. Since moving to their own YouTube channel they have racked up more than 1.6 billion views, with their audience thought to be around 80% women.

Perhaps with that demographic in mind, the other three members of The Try Guys decided that Fulmer was no longer able to stay in the group, finding him to have “engaged in conduct unbecoming of our team.”

In the video posted recently explaining the split, Habersberger said: “We knew that we could not move forward with him. So on Friday, September 16, the three of us signed written consent of the members of the 2nd Try LLC approving the removal of Ned as a manager and employee.”

This confirmed the end of Fulmer’s time on the show and removes him from the structure of the company too. In a statement released after his expulsion had been announced, Fulmer said that he would use the time to repair his relationship with his family.

His statement read: “Family should have always been my priority, but I lost focus and had a consensual workplace relationship. I’m sorry for any pain that my action may have caused to the guys and the fans but most of all to Ariel. The only thing that matters right now is my marriage and my children, and that’s where I am going to focus my attention.”
