Hollywood superstar Will Smith has come under fire again, this time after a video surfaced on social media which appears to show him sharing an explicit deep fake photo of Suicide Squad co-star, Margot Robbie. The concerning video has sparked outrage among several readers of the post, who have been quick to share their views.

Will Smith jokes about Margot Robbie deep fake

In the clip, Smith can be seen laughing as he shows a group of people on the bus, including Robbie, a deep fake of the actress, naked and in a compromised position. While Robbie attempts to defuse the situation, and can be heard saying “they hacked my phone,” some people look disturbed and shocked by the image while many join in laughing. The video was posted on the Public Freakout Reddit page by user u/Actuals, and at the time of writing has amassed around 2,500 comments, with many condemning the actors’ perceived behavior.

The incident has left many people disappointed, especially since Robbie has been a vocal advocate for online privacy and has spoken out against deep fakes in the past. Smith, on the other hand, has also been involved in projects aimed at raising awareness of cybercrime and internet safety.

Fans of the two stars have expressed their disappointment and have called for an apology from both actors. Many have also criticized Smith for his “hypocritical” behavior, given his involvement in various internet safety campaigns, and also pointing to the outrage he had at the 2022 Oscars when a joke was made about his wife. ‘I am curious on what Will would have done of it was a fake of his wife??’ [sic] one reply read.

It remains to be seen how the actors will respond to the backlash, but this incident has certainly left a bad taste in the mouths of many fans. With the rise of deep fakes and online privacy concerns, it’s more important than ever for public figures to be mindful of their actions and the messages they send to their followers. Even the legitimacy of this viral video throws up questions of its own.
