Will you be allowed to carry liquids on planes again? Here’s the new airport security thinking
It was understood by most why the additional security measures were being taken, but relaxing them now feels like a win.

Like most people, I’ve had to stand at an airport checkpoint frantically chugging a $6 bottle of water or arguing with someone about whether peanut butter really counts as a liquid. Now, though, that ritual might finally be on its way out. Hurrah, I think!
What liquid regulations are changing?
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said this week she’s rethinking the liquid rules entirely.
“The liquids, I’m questioning,” she said during a conference hosted by The Hill. She added that with updated screening tech in place, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) may soon change how much liquid you’re allowed to carry in your hand luggage.

If you’ve ever watched security toss your favorite shampoo because it was 4 ounces instead of 3.4, this probably feels long overdue. But before you start packing full-sized anything, Noem didn’t say when – or even if – changes would indeed happen. Nice tease though.
Right now, the rule stands: 3.4 oz containers in a one-quart bag, or into checked baggage they go.
This comes just days after TSA ended the shoe removal requirement, which, frankly, felt like a small miracle. Noem’s goal is that, “You walk in the door with your carry-on suitcase, you walk through a scanner and go right to your plane.”
For me, well, I’ll believe it when I see it... with my coffee still in hand as I stroll through.
