Winter weather in Texas: List of school districts canceling classes on Tuesday, Jan. 16
Texas is experiencing freezing and sub-freezing temperatures, causing school districts, colleges and universities to close all over the state.
Freezing and sub-freezing temperatures have hit Texas and the weather is expected to remain extremely cold until Wednesday. Bitter cold is enveloping the state, with Hard Freeze Warnings issued in certain areas. Residents are advised to avoid leaving their homes unless absolutely necessary.
Due to the Arctic Blast, a number of school districts, colleges and universities, and private and charter schools have announced closures or delays.

Winter weather in Texas: List of school districts canceling classes on Tuesday, Jan. 16
Educational institutions deemed to be situated in safe areas will continue operations, but those affected by hazardous weather conditions have chosen not to do so.
Here are lists of schools in Texas that have canceled or delayed classes on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Unless otherwise indicated, the schools included in the lists below have announced closure for the day.
Central Texas
- Austin ISD- delayed start time for classes for all classes by two hours
- Bastrop ISD
- Caldwell ISD
- Del Valle ISD
- Dime Box ISD
- Dripping Springs ISD
- Eanes ISD schools will start two hours late
- Elgin ISD
- Fayetteville ISD
- Flatonia ISD
- Florence ISD will delay the start of school by two hours
- Georgetown ISD to start classes and work on a two-hour delay
- Giddings ISD
- Granger ISD
- Gonzales ISD will start at 10 a.m.
- Hays CISD
- Hutto ISD will operate on a two hour delay.
- Jarrell ISD will have a two-hour delay.

- Killeen ISD is delaying the start of all schools by two hours.

- Lake Travis ISD classes will be delayed two hours as follows:
Elementary School Campuses - 9:40 a.m. start time
Middle/High School Campuses - 10:50 a.m. start time
- Leander ISD schools will have a delayed start. School start times will be:
Elementary schools at 9:30 a.m. (doors open at 9:10 a.m.)
High schools at 10:15 a.m. (doors open at 9:45 a.m.)
Middle schools at 11:05 a.m. (doors open at 10:35 a.m.)

- IDEA Public Schools-Greater Austin will be operating on a two-hour delayed start for most of its campuses due to winter weather.
- KIPP Texas-Austin schools will delay the start of the school day by two hours.
- St. Gabriel's Catholic School will have a two-hour delay.
- St. Michael's Catholic Academy will have a two-hour delay.
- Valor Schools- Three of Valor Education's campuses will be starting on a two-hour delay. Classes will begin at 10 a.m. at:

Colleges and Universities
- Huston-Tillotson University will delay campus operations and the start of classes until 11 a.m.
- Southwestern University is delaying the start of classes to 10 a.m. University offices will also be closed until 10 a.m.
- Texas A&M University classes are canceled. All non-essential campus operations are also suspended.
- Texas State University's San Marcos and Round Rock campuses will be closed, and all classes are canceled.
