Writer from Maine gets shocking news at the end of her book-signing event in Norway

One writer got a surprise you couldn’t write when at a book signing in Norway.

Born in Leeds, Joe finished his Spanish degree in 2018 before becoming an English teacher to football (soccer) players and managers, as well as collaborating with various football media outlets in English and Spanish. He joined AS in 2022 and covers both the men’s and women’s game across Europe and beyond.
Update:

A surprise so good you couldn’t make it up. Nina B. Lichtenstein, a writer from Maine, having poured decades into books that explore long-buried family tales and surprising revelations, never imagined the twist awaiting her during a recent signing in her native Norway. What was meant as a celebration of her work turned into one of the greatest plot twists she could have imagined.

The author attended an event in a small Norwegian town surrounded by listeners and readers familiar with her journey. She stood behind the table, copies of her latest memoir stacked neatly, while locals asked questions that usually circled around her past.

The line slowly dwindled down: person after person, signature after signature, polite chit chat after polite chit chat. One person remained, it was nearly time to go. And then came the twist.

“Hello, thanks for coming. What’s your name?” Nina said, offering her hand.

“Hi, I’m Heidi,” came the reply. “I’m your sister.”

In not-quite Darth Vader style, Heidi explained that “your father is also my father. I was born in 1963, and at first, he denied paternity, but then it was settled in court. I have it in writing." Nina, in shock, could only offer: What?!?”

After coming to terms with the news, she told The Huff Post: “The woman, two years older than me, has my father’s last name, but despite our father acknowledging paternity, she grew up without a father figure and was raised by her grandparents in a small town on the northwestern coast called Molde.”

Nina added in her article that: “I had always lamented having a small family; only one sister, six years younger than me, and here was my wish in the flesh: a big sister!”
