Your Chromecast was not connecting? Google releases an update to fix it and this is what you should do
Users around the world complained of a connectivity issue with the tech giant issuing a fix.
Google has begun rolling out an update to fix a bug identified on older Chromecast devices that prevented content playback and displayed an ‘unreliable device’ notification.
Second-generation Chromecast devices began to showcase a globally reported problem earlier this week which prevented them from receiving or streaming any content rendering the device unusable.
When trying to use the Chromecast, affected users began to receive a notification with an ‘unreliable device’ message, along with an explanation that the device could not be verified and that the failure could be caused ‘by the use of an obsolete firmware’.
At the time, Google said they were aware of the problem and were working to fix it. In addition, the tech company warned affected users not to reset the device to factory settings.
Fix on the way
Google has announced that it has already begun to release an update that includes a solution to this failure of the second-generation Chromecast and this will roll out ‘in the coming days’.
Google is also rolling out a new update for its Chromecast devices with Google TV, rolling out Android 14 OS and adding bug fixes.
