Dwayne Johnson, the famous actor who this year will star in the film adaptation of DC's antihero Black Adam, said in a recent interview that he will soon be part of a new movie based on the biggest, most badass games he has been playing for years. He told Men's Journal (vía GamesRadar), offering no further details but promising an announcement later this year.

Dwayne Johnson returns to video game films

As a former WWE wrestler turned Hollywood superstar, in addition to appearing in blockbusters like the Fast & Furious saga or the reboots of Jumanji, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has had a close relationship with movies based on video games. So much so that he appeared in the first adaptation of Doom in 2005 and, more recently, in Rampage, the film that adapts in its own way the well-known arcade machine that made the leap in the 80s and 90s to a multitude of systems.

"I can't tell you which game, in particular, we're doing, but there will be an announcement this year," he said. "We're going to bring one of the biggest, most badass games to the screen - one that I've played for years." And despite citing EA's American Football franchise, the actor is probably referring to another well-known video game franchise.

For now, we will have to wait for a possible announcement during 2022 related to Dwayne Johnson, cinema, and video games. Bets? Back to the actor's immediate future, Dwayne Johnson will release next July 29th Black Adam, the adaptation of the DC Comics character under the direction of Catalan filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra.
