The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere its first trailer during the Super Bowl

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power already has a date to share its first major teaser trailer. The Amazon Prime series will reveal its first footage during the Super Bowl celebration. The LVI edition will kick off on Sunday, February 13 starting at 6:30pm ET / 3:30 PT.

The Super Bowl is one of the biggest showcases there is in audiences and it is not the first time that the first glimpses of important series or movies have occurred during this sports event. Hundreds of millions of people sit in front of their TV sets to watch the NFL finals, which in 2022 will pit the Cincinnati Bengals against the Los Angeles Rams. This has been the spot chosen by the company to show viewers what's in store for this chapter of the saga on the small screen.

The Rings of Power, closer than ever

The series is scheduled to premiere on September 2 through Amazon Prime Video, one of the perks of being an Amazon Prime subscriber. It will take place thousands of years before the events narrated in the original trilogy and The Hobbit, when the rings of power were forged.

“[The series] Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared reemergence of evil to Middle-earth,” reads the press release. “From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will serve as showrunners, who will be joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, J.A. Bayona, Belen Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond and Sharon Tal Yguado.
