Update:
Wii Sports returns as Nintendo Switch Sports: all sports confirmed

If you are one of those who enjoyed playing with the Wii Mote in Wii Sports there is good news. One of the titles announced during today's Nintendo Direct was Nintendo Switch Sports, a new title developed by Nintendo that brings back the spirit of one of the best-selling games in history. This time, the version for Nintendo's hybrid not only includes franchise’s classic sports, but also new sports experiences that can be seen through its trailer which you can see below:

As you can see, the title includes three classic sports, Tennis, Bowling and Chambara, and adds soccer, badminton and volleyball. The title will include both local and online multiplayer modes, so it will be possible to challenge players from all over the world. Like the original title and its Wii U version, we will use the Joy-Con to emulate the movements. Some sports like soccer will also allow us to use the leg strap that we met in Ring Fit Adventure (and that will be included in the physical version).

Also, you may notice that the classic Mii's have been changed to an updated version. For now, it is not known if these new characters will be customizable to bring the appearance of each of the players to this new sports installment.

Along with the reveal, Nintendo announced an online test that will take place from February 18 to 20. Only those with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription can participate, though. As part of the post-release, an update will come to the soccer mode during the summer, while in the fall we can expect the arrival of Golf. For now, there is no mention if other classics from the original version such as baseball or boxing will be present.

Nintendo Switch Sports has a release date scheduled for April 29. For all the announcements from today's Nintendo Direct, don't miss our recap.
