Obi-Wan Kenobi gets release date on Disney+; take a look at the poster

Disney has confirmed that the long-awaited Obi-Wan Kenobi series will arrive this May 25 exclusively on Disney+. Disney's streaming platform, which closed last year with 130 million subscribers, will be the place where we will discover what happened after the events narrated in Star Wars: Episode III. To celebrate the return of Ewan McGregor, who reprises his role, now as the protagonist, the company has unveiled a spectacular new poster that die-hard fans will know how to interpret.

The information comes just the same day that The Book of Boba Fett, a series set in the timeline of The Mandalorian, has ended. With this, the Star Wars universe does not stop: one series ends and we already know when the next one begins. This one looks pretty special.

Obi-Wan Kenobi coming to Disney+ on May 25: everything you need to know

Those who grew up with the prequel trilogy with Episodes I, II and III will especially remember Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan. But he is not the only familiar face in this production. On the other side will be Hayden Christensen, who is back to reprise his role as Lord Darth Vader. Other actors and actresses confirmed for the highly anticipated Obi-Wan series include Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O'Shea Jackson Jr, Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

Plot-wise, the series will be set ten years after the events depicted in Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, at a time when the Jedi find himself seeking refuge after the great power shift: the Republic has fallen and now the Empire's period of dominance begins.

With Deborah Chow as lead director and Joby Harold in charge of the script, the production will coincide with the 45th anniversary of the original Star Wars theatrical release and will consist of six episodes.
