Elden Ring, like other From Software games such as Dark Souls and Bloodborne, begins in a very similar way: first, you create your character, select a class and then choose an initial item or gift. This time, these items are called Keepsakes. As part of our Elden Ring guide, in this article, we detail what these items are, and which one is the best suited for you to start your adventure in the best way.
All Elden Ring's Keepsakes
- Crimson Amber Medallion: a talisman that increases your health bar permanently, as long as you have it equipped.
- Stonesword Key: these are single-use keys (2) that unlock white mists by inserting them into the imp statues.
- Golden Seed: they are used to increase the number of available vials. The first upgrades only require one, but in the future, you will need several for each extra vial.
- Fanged Imp Ashes: these are summoning ashes.
- Cracked Pot: is a crafting material.
- Shabriri’s Woe: used to attract the attention of enemies.
- Boiled Prawn: it is a consumable that boosts your defenses against physical attacks.
- Lands Between Rune: if you consume it, you will add a handful of runes on the spot.
- Bewitching Branch: this allows you to restore a large part of your HP bar.
- None: little more to say. The choice for those who don't want any help.
What is the best Keepsake?
Although it is very tempting to opt for the Stonesword Key, you should know that it is not the best option, as you will later get a good handful of them by exploring. So our advice is to choose either the Crimson Amber Medallion , a talisman that will increase your health bar while equipped, or the Golden Seed, which allows you to increase by 1 the maximum load of health vials you can use (you must select this option in the menu of any Site of Grace).
