Pokémon GO kicks off the season of Alola: dates, new Pokémon and Tropical Challenge

The Season of Alola is already a reality in Pokémon GO. After a trimester of the Season of Heritage, Niantic's game for iOS and Android is getting a seventh-generation update, and it's doing so as usual: announcing a huge array of content. Because there is much to come; not only the debut of the archipelago starters (Rowet, Litten and Popplio). Without further ado, we tell you everything you need to know about this new season, including the new Melemele Island Special Research and the Tropical Collection Challenge.

Date and welcome to the Season of Alola

Pokémon GO's Season of Alola begins this Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 10:00 and will be available worldwide until June 1, 2022 at 20:00 (local time). Three months in which new wild Pokémon discovered in the Alola region await for us; the region that was introduced to us in 2016 on the occasion of the release of Pokémon Sun and Moon on Nintendo 3DS.

Melemele Island Special Research

Starting March 1 and until June 1, in other words, throughout the entire Season of Alola, Professor Willow is giving us a new task: to complete different lines of research in order to learn about all the islands of Alola. If we finish all lines of research before June 1, 2022, an additional special line of research will be unlocked at the end of the season. These are the unlock dates for each line of research:

  • March 1: Melemele Island Special Research
  • March 22: to be determined.
  • April 12: to be determined.
  • May 10: to be determined.
  • May 25: to be determined.
