Crossplay

Elden Ring crossplay, how does it work?

We take a look at Elden Ring's multiplayer mode to find out the requirements for players to be able to use the crossplay on From Software's latest title.

Update:
Elden Ring crossplay, how does it work?

Elden Ring has become a true hit that players have been praising. Traveling the Lands Between on our own can be complicated, but as in other Soulslike games, the opportunity to play with friends to help out is always appreciated. Before its release, we knew that the title would feature crossplay, the opportunity to play with friends on other platforms. It is time to clarify all the existing doubts and look at what are the conditions you need to have to be able to play with other friends.

How crossplay works in Elden Ring?

As happened before its launch, Bandai Namco presented details related to crossplay, although this is only possible between platforms of the same family. While in recent years we have seen titles that finally managed to overcome the barrier of platforms to play together, or to a lesser extent, PC players being able to play with users on a specific console, in the case of Elden Ring there is not so much freedom. This is how crossplay looks like in Elden Ring:

  • Elden Ring players on PlayStation: will only be able to play with PS4 and/or PlayStation 5 users.
  • Elden Ring players on Xbox: will only be able to play with Xbox One and/or Xbox Series users.
  • Elden Ring players on PC: will not have shared multiplayer with PS4, PS5, Xbox One or Xbox Series users; only with PC players.

Elden Ring multiplayer: how to play the cooperative mode?

Leave a co-op token: you can offer to help other users in dungeons or final bosses (the reward for winning is half the runes that the player who hosts the game gets). You can leave unlimited tokens using Tarnished's Furled Finger, an item you get during the prologue on a corpse, just before going out to the open world that is part of the linear path.

Summon an ally player: if you want to enlist the help of other players, you need to use the consumable item Furlcalling Finger Remedy. It can be purchased from various merchants that you find while exploring the world, although it is much faster to use the crafting menu, as the necessary materials are often found without any difficulty. When you use this item, the cooperation signs left by other players are revealed.
