PlayStation Plus
PS Plus - Comparison of subscriptions: benefits, content and price of each tier
PlayStation Plus will be renewed starting this June and offers three different subscription levels. Which one is best for you? Here is the comparison.
PlayStation Plus will undergo its biggest change in ten years starting this June. Sony Interactive Entertainment has opted to merge the traditional PS Plus with PS Now, its other parallel service that never really took off. Now everything will be encompassed in a single subscription with three levels, three tiers of different prices proportionally higher: the higher the fee, the greater the value and content. This way we will have PS Plus Essential, Extra and Premium. Which one is better for your interests? In this comparative we put face to face the benefits and peculiarities of each of them.
Our goal with this article is that you can see in a simple and graphical way in a single table with all the features of PS Plus with its three levels of subscription, so that you can analyze whether it is worth the jump to Extra or Premium (current PS Plus subscribers will migrate to PS Plus Essential) or if, for example, it is more worthwhile to pay an annual or quarterly payment instead of month to month, thus saving you quite a lot of money at the end of the year. Let's see everything in detail.

PS Plus Essential
The first of the new subscription models. Current PS Plus subscribers will become PS Plus Essential in June, unless we switch to a higher mode. It is PS Plus as we knew it until now. It will offer discounts, cloud gaming, online multiplayer and downloadable games per month; although now there will only be two. Previously it was between three and four. It will cost $9.99 monthly / $24.99 quarterly / $59.99 yearly.
PS Plus Extra
Based on PS Plus Essential, we have to add an additional catalog of up to 400 PS4 and PS5 games, including both first and third party, all of them downloadable. This catalog will be "periodically renewed". At the moment, the following games are confirmed: Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal, among many others. It will cost $14.99 monthly / $39.99 quarterly / $99.99 yearly.
PS Plus Premium
Adding PS Plus Essential plus all the advantages of PS Plus Extra we find PS Plus Premium, the most expensive mode, but also the one that will add the most value to the whole. If we pay the annual payment would be $10 per month, but is it worth it? There are no day one releases, but all of the above plus an additional catalog of 340 PSX, PS2, PS3 and PSP games to be determined. Jim Ryan says these PlayStation Classics will look "great" on PS4 and PS5. The PS3 ones we'll only be able to stream on PS4, PS5 and PC. PS Plus Premium also offers exclusive demos of games that have not yet been released. Price: $17.99 monthly / $49.99 quarterly / $119.99 yearly.
