There is optimism surrounding Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Disney's next big release in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The second film starring Benedict Cumberbach's Doctor Strange has become the film with the best pre-sale records on its first day of ticket booking on Fandango. While no specifics have been released, Deadline reports that it has surpassed the first day of bookings for Warner Bros. Pictures' The Batman.
Best First Day of Ticket Pre-sales in 2022
Fandango, a market leader in movie ticket sales, makes it clear that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been the movie with the most tickets sold on its first day of pre-sales so far in 2022; the best record since Spider-Man: No Way Home last November 29. All of this translated into $260 million in its first weekend in the U.S.; the second-best of all time.
It's easy to predict that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will surpass $134 million grossed during its first weekend in the domestic market, the amount that the most recent Batman movie earned in its first weekend.
“The epic first day of pre-sales for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness proves fans are beyond excited to experience all the thrills, chills and blockbuster surprises Marvel Studios is known to deliver,” said Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis in a statement to the media.
